Worst Flu Season in 10 Years in the US
Many hospitals in the US are struggling to manage the influx of patients with the flu. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the US federal agency in charge of protecting public health and safety, believes that the number of influenza cases reported is nearing epidemic levels in the US as of January 2013, the worst in 10 years. Though the CDC has still not declared an epidemic, concern is raised across 41 states for the 2012-2013 Influenza Season (November to March) where over 2,000 people have already been hospitalized as of October 2012.
